Cuban Living History Project
Scope and Contents
The Cuban Living History Project includes three documentaries and 114 personal interviews. The documentaries are named: Y los Quiero Conocer (And I Want to Meet Them) recounting the era of the Cuban Republic, Calle Ocho: Cuban Exiles Look at Themselves, an Emmy Award-winner, based on the Cuban American exile community and Ni Patria Ni Amo (Neither Motherland Nor Master) which focuses on the exile opposition to Fidel Castro’s regime and is based on testimonies of exile leaders. The documentaries were created based on the personal interviews. The interviewees on the personal interviews were Cuban exiles that played very important roles in the creation of Cuban Miami. Most of the interviewees, now deceased, were well-known figures in the cultural, political and intellectual life of the Cuban Republic. The interviews were conducted by Dr. Miguel González-Pando, between the years 1990 and 1997. A number of other items also included in the collection are press articles by Miguel Gonzalez-Pando, personal photos and posters, in addition to articles about him.
