Biographical / Historical
Born in 1910, Judge Mattie Belle Davis was the first woman from Florida to be elected to the American Bar Foundation. She also was the first woman judge of Metropolitan Court of Dade County, which led to March 3rd being Mattie Belle Davis Day. The Mattie Belle Davis Society was created in 2004 by The Florida Association for Women Lawyers in order to help facilitate contributions from FAWL members towards key initiatives.
